We had one of the best sunsets of the year today, but the color made me hungry for out-of-season fruit. The air has been restless since afternoon, eager to strip the oaks of their last brown leaves. Many of the leaves gave in and went skittering along the street, filling the day with a dry sound. Not everything was willing to succumb to the wind's bluster, though. Defiant crows perched atop swaying pines and rode them as though they were having a day at the amusement park.
Squirrels were out gathering acorns again, taking advantage of the milder temperature. There were few clouds, and the afternoon could almost have been taken for a day in early spring. It won't stay that way for long.
Now that I think of it, maybe that game sounds more like an android making popcorn.
