Starlit stillness, moonless, windless, warmth slowly rising from dry earth, the massed obscure trees darkly walling the empty street. Time has rippled, landing me in this displaced summer night. Nothing to do but lie looking up at that clarity filled with glittering stars, and hope that the earth's turning soon moves us to a cooler day.
