While cleaning, I was briefly entertained by a pair of acorn woodpeckers who were drilling into the eaves of the house next door. Maybe the place has termites. The blue jays were not happy about the woodpeckers being there, and swooped and screeched at them. The jays like to alight on the television antenna. Every time they land or take off, it wobbles and rattles and clangs. Altogether, there was quite a racket going on for a while, but once the woodpeckers departed, things quieted down again.
We are having another spell of heat, so I have to be quick, or Sluggo will freak out. I'm no longer sure I can replace him soon. Other expenses have come up, and still more are likely to do so. Well, nothing can be done about it. At least summer is ending, and I might be able to nurse this decrepit machine through another cold season. If it doesn't work out, I think I'll just trade reality for a fantasy world. I've always liked those better anyway.
