Reset Twenty-Two, Day Twelve

All day Sunday it still felt like Monday, even though I had figured out that it was actually Sunday. It probably even felt like Monday in my sleep, which took up the whole middle of the day again, from about seven until three in the afternoon. It got a bit less smoky out, which improved my mood a bit, though the heat (and the prospect of even more) did its best to darken it again.

I spent most of what remained of the afternoon and evening looking through old movie theater industry trade journals at archive.org and google books and transferring bits of information gleaned from them to pages at cinematreasures.org, the one web site at which I've probably posted more than I have at LJ. My memory not being as good as it once was has made doing such things more difficult, but I still enjoy it.

To avoid cooking I heated a can of soup for dinner, which means I didn't drink any beer. Now that I can't get Sierra Nevada porter anymore, skipping beer feels like less of a sacrifice. I just don't miss the substitute beer when I don't have it. Back when I could get porter, if I had soup for dinner I would sometimes have a snack later and drink the beer with that, but it hardly seems worthwhile with those other beers. I don't feel any better by not having beer, but at leat I'm saving a bit of money.

I had a strange dream Sunday, and when I woke up I was sure I'd remember it, but it soon vanished utterly. I've tried to recall it since, but have been unable. It's kind of weird to remember having had a dream but being unable to remember any of it. But then I forget most of what happens when I'm awake, too, so maybe it's not such a surprise.

Changing winds are expected to reduce smoke at lower elevations today, which means the firefighting aircraft could start working again. If they fly over my neighborhood I'll hear them and they might wake me up. The biggest fire (now the second-largest in California history) is eat of here, so the planes headed there usually turn eastward before they get here, but there is another fire to the northwest that they are also working on, and planes headed to that one usually make their westward turn right over my neighborhood. Something to look forward to.
