Reset Twenty, Day Twenty-Three

Just when I thought it was safe to go back to sleep in the mornings, they're back! The roofers! After Tuesday's evening nap I found myself awake past dawn Wednesday, finishing up a chapter of a book I'm reading, and was about to try to go to sleep when out on the drive there arose such a clatter that I went to the window to see what was the matter. It was two scrawny roofers with an aluminum ladder! So they were not finished with the roof, they had just taken the two extra-hot days off. I certainly can't blame them for avoiding work on Monday and Tuesday, but for me it was a rude... well, not awakening, obviously, but a rude prevention of sleeping.

They didn't actually keep me entirely awake, but each time I managed to get to sleep they managed to clomp loudly overhead or drop some heavy object on my personal part of the roof with a resounding thud, and that state continued for a few hours. They did finally depart before noon, but I don't know if that was because they finally finished the job, or if it just got too damned hot for them again. I suppose I'll find out today. Or perhaps tomorrow, since today is supposed to getup to 101 degrees again. The forecast keeps adjusting upward. Satan is probably involved somehow. Even worse, the low predicted Thursday night is 69. 69! That's a good temperature for a balmy afternoon, not nighttime!

The uncooked foods in my refrigerator remain uncooked, as I defaulted to cold dinner mode once again and finished off the potato salad in lieu of an actual meal. A bowl of potato salad, a glass of lemonade, and three chocolate chip cookies is probably not an adequate dinner, but what the hell, it's so damned hot! I couldn't even bring myself to microwave anything. I fear that the uncooked foods in my refrigerator will rot away before I feel like fixing them. I should probably go ahead and eat them even if they do rot. Then the contents of my stomach will match my brain.

Between disrupted sleep, poor diet, and heat, I am rapidly approaching exhaustion, and I really hope I can get some uninterrupted sleep today. In short, I don't want those roofers back again.
