Reset Nineteen, Day Twenty

The little mini-flies who had been growing less numerous for a few days returned in force Monday, tickling me and drowning themselves in my beverages. I'd hoped I would soon be rid of them, but apparently I won't. I've also been smelling a strange odor in the apartment, though I'm sure it's unrelated. I've smashed any number of the flies and they don't seen to be scented. The odor has a medicinal smell, rather like a liniment. I can't find a source for it, so I'm going to assume, as usual, that it is a phantom smell that I am only imagining because I have developed a brain tumor. What the hell else would it be?

The heat was quite unpleasant Monday, and I slept poorly and too late, not rising until after three o'clock in the afternoon. As it has cooled down outside, I am now cooling the apartment with the fan and hope I can get to sleep earlier tonight. I intend to let the computer sleep early in hope that I will follow its good example. I might fix myself a nice alcoholic beverage in hope that it will help. I just don't want to see the sun coming up while I am still awake.

Although Tuesday will be fairly warm it will be a good ten degrees cooler than Monday, and then we are to get back up into the eighties for three days in a row. I'll be eating a lot of sandwiches, as I hate cooking in hot weather even more than I usually do. Next week is supposed to be cooler, though, and the forecast for Sunday now shows a 78% chance of actual rain. April is unpredictable, of course, so I'm not counting on it, but it would be very nice.

The mockingbird is still doing a lot of nocturnal singing. That doesn't really make up for the lack of frogs, but I do appreciate it. It makes the mini-metropolitan nights seem less like a corpse lying by the side of the road, ignored by the passing motorists, of whom there are far too many.
