Reset Eighteen, Day Nine

If we got much rain Wednesday it happened while I was sleeping. By the time I got up there was no clear evidence that a lot of rain had fallen, but then I didn't get up until really late, like four o'clock in the afternoon, so the evidence might have dried up quite a bit. There was some afternoon sunshine, and some birds singing, though it never got very warm. clumps of clouds did rush overhead from time to time, and some of them brought brief showers, but there has been no more serious rain. The next chance for that won't come until Sunday. In the meantime, today won't be much warmer than Wednesday, but Friday is expected to get up to a balmy 69 degrees.

Some good news is that the mountains did get some snow, and the level even dropped down lower than expected. I saw photos of Paradise with a couple of inches on the ground in the upper parts of what used to be town. Any that remains today will surely melt off Friday, though. March snow rarely sticks around for long at that elevation.

I'm considering asking my niece to pick up a few things from a supermarket for me. I had forgotten that St. Patrick's Day was coming up, and that always brings some interesting sales. There will be cheap cabbage and potatoes and carrots, plus rarities like Irish soda bread and some Irish cheeses they don't usually stock. And of course Guinness. It's the best time of year to buy Guinness.

The clock is supposed to be changed soon. Mornings will seem to stay dark longer for a while, and evenings to stay light later and later. That will be nice. Anything that prevents the time when the sun comes up from being called four o'clock in the morning is nice. Roosters don't care, of course, but I am not a rooster.
