Listening

To conserve water, the orchard at the end of my block is watered at night, reducing evaporation. I like to go out onto the lawn and just listen to the sprinklers sending their spray out over the trees. Darkness and falling water and the cool scent of it on the night breeze. For one moment, I think "what more could I want?"
Maybe it is that simple for a zen master.
For me, it never lasts.
