Reset Fifteen, Days Five and Six
At some point in the next couple of hours I expect to slam into a wall, since I've been awake since five o'clock this morning and out of bed since seven. It started Thursday evening when, around ten o'clock, I was passing through the chilly bedroom and thought how nice and cozy the covers on the bed looked, and I just had to sit down for a minute and wrap one of the throws around me, and the next thing I knew I was waking up from an unintentional nap. I was sure it was past midnight, and that I should go in and fix something to eat and write a journal entry, but on checking the kitchen clock i discovered that it was five in the morning. It must be the longest stretch of uninterrupted sleep I've had in months, and I didn't even intend to do it.
Despite having slept some seven hours, I still felt a bit tired, so I got into bed properly, but couldn't get back to sleep. Still, it was so warm in there and so chilly in the apartment that I just stayed there, occasionally cat napping but never really getting back to sleep. So I finally got up and was in time to see the first raindrops fall in the back yard. It sprinkled or drizzled off and on all day Friday, and it's sprinkling a bit right now. I still got my laundry done, and made some ramen for lunch, and recently a cream cheese sandwich for dinner (Thursday night's dinner was two avocado sandwiches.) I'm having a hard time keeping my eyes open right now, but if I go to sleep this early I'll be waking up in the middle of the night, and my sleep schedule is too weird already.
The humidity is making the cold feel more intense. To avoid the allure of those tempting blankets I've turned the thermostat all the way up to 70. If the extra warmth makes me sleepier then my plan has backfired. Maybe I should drink a little bit of that iced coffee I've got in the refrigerator. Or maybe not, as that could keep me up until dawn.
Oh, to hell with it. I'm going to take a nap before I fall out of this chair.
