Reset Fourteen, Day Fourteen

I didn't drag myself out of bed until almost three o'clock in the afternoon Friday, though I'd been awake off and on for at least two hours before that. There was bright sunshine leaking around the window blinds, and I hated it. I'm in the mood for a grey day, but I won't be getting one anytime soon. It's supposed to be partly cloudy Tuesday, so I'll have to make do with that. The diurnal temperature range is quite spectacular, though, ranging from thirty degrees upward every day for the next week. It's already down to 47 tonight, from a high Friday of 80. Temperature whiplash.

A mockingbird gave a very long recital in my back yard Friday afternoon, which was enjoyable. That's another reason to be glad the very hot weather is finally gone. I almost never heard a mockingbird from July through September. The bird songs distract me from the noise of the freeway, making my outdoor time more enjoyable. I barely even noticed the traffic today unless I deliberately listened for it.

It's about time I started planning for my next trip out. Banking must be done again soon, and November usually brings some good sales at the grocery stores, due to Thanksgiving. There could be a pumpkin pie in my future. But I'll need to get my sleep schedule back to something more rational before I can go out. I'm hoping the end of daylight saving time will help with that task.

Tonight is Halloween, the calendar on the computer just told me. There probably won't be any kids coming to my door. There weren't any last year. I seldom see kids in the neighborhood, and this year their activities might be more restricted anyway. I'm not even going to bother making any jello shots this year. Too bad, kids. All the more straight vodka for me.
