The need for the nap might have arisen from the fact that I went out late Wednesday afternoon to mail my rent check. I decided to check the Goodwill store first, but made a mistake about their hours, I had thought they were open until seven, but it turned out they closed at six, so at half past six I was too late. I went across to the other side of the shopping center and dropped the letter into the box, and considered going to CVS, very near there, to pick up another six pack of beer, but as I didn't really need beer yet I decided not to.
The walk was enervating due to the heat, and when I got home I sat in the back yard for a while, and that's when I started nodding off. It crossed my mind that I might go in and pour myself a bit of cold brewed coffee, but it must have slipped my mind, as the next thing I knew I was removing my shoes and lying on the bed. Little bits of reality have a way of vanishing anymore. I might have been sleepwalking. Or maybe I just had a mini-strike. Either way, I ended up napping for about four hours.
There was of course no question of fixing the dinner I missed, so around one o'clock I opened a pouch of spiced tuna and a package of crackers, and that was my meal. It was easy, and the beer I washed it down with was good. The beer is usually good. I don't know what I'd do without it.
Since I didn't actually go into any stores, but just walked around outside, and never got within spitting distance of any actual people, I'm not counting Wednesday as being outside my current isolation period. I haven't yet checked the ads for the markets to see if there's anything I really want this week. I've got enough stuff on hand that I wouldn't really need to go this week, but probably will need to go next week. There is some possibility that I won't have to step over cadavers piled in the streets that soon. That will probably be later, and I could be dead myself by then, so I won't worry about it.
The chance of rain Friday is down to 20%, and the predicted high temperature has been revised upward to 82, so I'm guessing no rain and very little cooling. I figured it was too good to be true.
