I took a quick look at the remaindered books Dollar Tree stocks, but didn't seen anything of interest and didn't want to linger to search more thoroughly. Again, I just wanted to get the hell out of that place. A few people we wearing masks, but there were many weren't, including the cashier a the check stand. I don't plan on going back there for a long time.
Though not as hot as Saturday, the afternoon was quite sultry, and I tried to walk in the shade as much as possible. The mailbox I use is beyond a good sized stretch of treeless parking lot, though, and that made for some unpleasant walking. It was good to get back to the apartment, which had remained fairly cool despite the air conditioner being off. I changed back into my comfy pants and indoor slippers, for which my feet were very grateful. Now that I'm seldom wearing my outdoor shoes and walking very little my feet get sore quickly.
Once the sun went down the air cooled nicely, and a breeze came up, a harbinger of the rain that is still predicted to arrive Monday afternoon. I must try to remember to get the wheelie bin out to the street for Tuesday's pickup before that rain begins. I'll have to put my miserable street shoes on again, of course. Semi-quarantine is spoiling my feet. I don't know how I'll ever get them used to regular shoes again after this is all over— if it ever is over, and if I'm still around.
California is one of the states where cases are once again increasing, so even though it has about the lowest infection rate of any densely populated states, it is still not ready for even the limited reopening that has just gotten underway. In fact the low rate of infection so far puts us at risk for a very rapid growth of cases if we aren't very careful. I'm pretty sure that most of the country is loosening restrictions too quickly, and we could be in for a very ugly summer. I had been thinking about making a quick run to Grocery Outlet later this week, but now I'm inclined to believe that that could be a very bad idea.
Ramen for dinner again. If this keeps up I'm likely to lose what little cooking skill I ever had. Pathetic.
