Chilly Monday

Another very chilly day, which went from partly sunny to overcast and breezy as the afternoon wore on, discouraged me from taking a bus today, but I did make the walk to Grocery Outlet so I would not be without a donut (aka breakfast) tomorrow. A few other items found their way into my basket there, including something called a Quick Quinoa Side, and also a frozen pumpkin pie. Later I discovered that I'll be able to get a ride to Safeway tomorrow, and a freshly baked pumpkin pie was one of the things on my list for that store, so the frozen pie will remain frozen for some time to come. It was a great bargain, though, being only two bucks, and its expiration date is in 2021, so there's no rush.

I took longer in Grocery Outlet than I'd expected, and didn't go out again after that, though I'd hoped to get to the Goodwill store to check on books and to Trader Joe's for a package of their excellent tortillas (which keep well enough if you put them in the refrigerator after opening them.) It just got too cold that late in the afternoon. But I can probably survive without the tortillas until tomorrow. I've had everything I needed for an adequate dinner without tortillas, and the beans in the can will surely keep.

It has grown very windy tonight, and since it is also cold and humid it is very unpleasant to step outside. It's a good thing I don't have to. I've got the thermostat set to 68, and soon I'll be under the electric blanket as well. I might make a cup of hot chocolate with a shot of brandy in it first. Staying warm is a priority. I don't want a relapse of my cold. I'm sure that virus is still lurking in there somewhere, just waiting for an excuse to make me miserable again. My neck is already doing a fine job of that, and needs no help from a virus.
