Things Done Saturday

Now I've done it. Saturday evening I got a bit of a kink in my neck so I decided to lie down on the bed for a few minutes to see if I could relax it out. Next thing I knew I was waking from a sound sleep and it was past midnight. The kink in my neck is gone, but my shoulder now aches from exposure to the draft from the air conditioner, and my sleep schedule is totally out of whack. I didn't feel like eating dinner at that time, so I just heated up a stale bran muffin and loaded it with butter to make it interesting. I'll probably regret that, too.

Before that unintended nap the day had gone fairly well. I got a late afternoon call with an offer of a ride to Safeway, so I went and bought the few things I wanted that were on sale there this week. I'm glad that's out of the way. After getting back from Safeway I thought about going to the Plaza for a fresh six pack of beer, but dawdled too long on the computer and got that kink in my neck.

Right now is when I ought to be going to sleep, but I'm slept out. It's delightfully cool outdoors, and the cricket is chirping very slowly. Maybe if I read for a while I'll get sleepy again before dawn. But first I'll have to put something on my shoulder or the low-grade ache will keep me awake.
