Pie and Sherry

A bit of breeze has come up tonight, which is a nice change. Nights have been hot and still lately, bringing little relief from the sultry days. Tomorrow (today, I guess) is only going up to 90 degrees, and Friday and Saturday will both be a bit cooler still, so perhaps I'll lose some of the lassitude that has plagued me. I've been feeling as though I'd gotten trapped in a lost, boring, very bad play by Tennessee Williams.

A little while ago I remembered something I'd forgotten, and I was going to write something about it, but now I've forgotten what I remembered. I hate when that happens, and it's happening more these days. It actually sounds like something that would happen in a bad country song that was part of the score of an ill-advised musical version of that bad lost play by Tennessee Williams I was trapped in. If that is going to start happening more then I'm going to be really pissed off.

Since I can't remember what I was going to say, and I don't want to stay up too late, I think I'm going to eat a snack and drink something and then read a bit before I go to sleep.

Oh, wait, I remember what I forgot. Last night I forgot to check my cell phone battery and ended up letting it run down again. That's only the second time that has happened since I got the thing, but it's very disconcerting. All of a sudden the computer is telling me there is no Internet connection, and I check the phone and sure enough it's dead. I remember when when the phone quit working it was phone company's fault. Now it can be my fault, and I'm not happy about that. If cellphones had been around in Tennessee Williams' lifetime this sort of situation probably would have been a plot point in that bad lost play he would have written that I got trapped in.

All I can say is thank god cellphones weren't invented earlier, and that I have pie and sherry. Now I'm going to go out and say goodnight to my crickets. I don't need to plug them in to anything.
