Four

I just spent a couple of hours ordering stuff online from K-mart. There will be a couch-like futon for the living room, and a night stand for the bedroom. I really need something to sit on other than this kitchen chair I use when I'm using the computer, and its matching chair just isn't working out as a night stand. Stuff falls off of it. The futon has fake leather upholstery, so I'll have to get something to throw over it, and maybe a couple of pillows, fake leather being rather unpleasant, but I'm getting desperate and K-mart's limited selection of clearance items was my best bet. I also ordered a few items of clothing from their clearance sale. Four hoodies and a flannel shirt. I think I'll have enough hoodies now, even if I still don't have enough furniture.

Now that there will be a couch-like thing I suppose I'll have to get a couple of end tables and lamps and a coffee table (or a small ottoman with a tray to put on it) and then it will be an upholstered chair or two, which will pretty much fill up the room. What I'd most like to find is a pole lamp such as were popular in the 1970s, as I could set it up to have one lamp shining down on the kitchen counter and not have to do stuff with my own shadow hiding my work. That ceiling light is just in the wrong place. I haven't seen pole lamps in ages though. When I search the Internet for them the results are all for floor lamps, which are not at all the same thing. If I search "tension pole lamp" I do see some, but not from retailers. There are only photos of them. Apparently Pinterest is the only place where anyone cares about pole lamps anymore.

Shopping was done at Safeway this aternoon, and then I checked the furniture and books at the Goodwill store, but they had nothing new of interest today. I had heard that the 99 cent store sells almond cookies, so I stopped in there but their only almond cookies had coconut in them too, which didn't appeal to me. Instead I bought a package of green tea cookies, which is something I've never encountered before. I've been looking for green tea ice cream but haven't found any, so the cookies will fill the gap until I do. They turned out to be not half bad for such a cheap item, though no match for almond cookies.

We got a few sprinkles today, and it's supposed to start raining again later tonight and continue tomorrow, but I'm not expecting it to amount to much. Winter is getting old. I know how it must feel. Today was the four month anniversary of the fire, and I'm pretty sure I've aged quite a bit more than that since then. Four months with your cats missing will do that. Winter will soon turn to spring. What I will turn to I have no idea.
