An Accomplishment

So I finally got to go to the bank this afternoon— a spur of the moment thing— though I wasn't able to handle all the things I wanted to do. At least they now have my new mailing address, and I have ordered a new box of checks to replace the ones that got burned. The automatic transfers from my savings to my checking account have to be set up online it turns out. What people who aren't on the Internets are expected to do I don't know. Banks have gotten kind of weird. But then so have a lot of other things.

Last night my intermittent insomnia made one of its periodic visits and I didn't get to sleep until after three o'clock. Then around eight there was noise in the parking lot as someone left for work, and though I thought about getting up I was too tired and ended up going back to sleep until noon. I hope to wake up earlier tomorrow, as I'm expecting visitors. I've never met anyone from LJ in person before, but tomorrow zyzyly and gracegiver are coming up from Sacramento bringing a care package of books, which I will greatly appreciate. I haven't been able to get out to any actual book stores yet, and those Harry Potter books I bought at the Goodwill store won't last very long. A dwelling place needs a number of books in it.

But it's after midnight again and I'm still awake. I need to start winding down, but not until after I take last look at the pictures of rescued cats that were posted today. I'm not expecting to see any of mine, but one never knows. And they post a lot of pictures of cats and dogs who have been reunited with their families, which is encouraging. Those are nice to see before sleeping.
