Now that the cooling has set in I found it a bit easier to stay awake in the afternoon. When it starts getting colder it will get difficult again since I won't be able to resist getting under a blanket if I watch television in the afternoon, and the resulting coziness is bound to make me nod off if I'm even the slightest bit short of sleep. It might be cold enough for that to happen Sunday, but I'll be getting ready to go shopping so won't be tempted to nap. However, Monday will be about as chilly as Sunday, so that's when such napping is most likely to happen. But then it's supposed to get warmer again, but not too warm, later in the week, so a Monday nap might be a one-off.
I did remember to get the back yard watered today, though it was almost dark by the time I got done. Portia delayed me by curling up on my lap and purring. I hate to disturb her at such times, so I just kept web surfing while she napped. When I finally got outside two feral cats had to greet me, and their dinner, and then I gave the shrubs their belated watering. Unlike the cats, they failed to show any affection in return for the attention. I guess they are waiting until spring to do that.
My late lunch is wearing off, so I'm going to go heat up a can of tamales now (yes, I know— my diet is a disgrace) and then maybe go out and watch the waning, but still large, gibbous moon for a while. It's nice to enjoy the cricketless quiet that has descended on the neighborhood. The noisy bugs were hanging around so late this year I thought they'd never leave. The air is still tonight, too. Now I'll be able to hear the fluttering wings of passing night birds. |
