Several days of intense heat are due, and the nights will stay in the seventies until Saturday, when the nocturnal lows will drop back into the high sixties. It won't be very nice, but at least it won't be as nightmarish as it is now. I actually had to turn on the air conditioner this morning, or I wouldn't have been able to dry off after showering. I ended up leaving it on for about three hours. I'll probably have to use it again at least for a while over the next few days.
Early today I smelled the smoke from the fire, as I'd expected, but it was gone by afternoon. But even though the smell went away, the sky had a smoky look all day, and the valley looked even worse, but part of that was probably just the area's usual summer smog.
If I can survive tonight and tomorrow, odds are I'll see next week. But odds aren't that I'll enjoy it when I do.
