Reset Thirty-Three, Day Two

Tuesday was nothing spectacular, but then when is it? By the time I woke up it had gotten terribly hot outside, so I stayed in and puttered around the Internet. I found a few unusual music videos I'd never seen before, including one by a jazz fusion group called Hiromi's Sonicbloom, which features a guitarist named David Fiuczynski who I have somehow never heard of even though he's been around for decades. I found them quite astonishing. It's the sort of music that, had my mom heard me listening to it, would have moved her to say "what's that horrible noise you're listening to?" I love it.

Because I am so bad at remembering dates, I forgot an important birthday on September 4th. Los Angeles turned 240. And I didn't even send a card. I'm so embarrassed. It isn't every day that Los Angeles turns 240. In fact it has only happened once in the last 240 years, and won't happen again for, well, eternity. And it isn't like I had anything else to do that day. There's no excuse, I was just stupid— just like I am any other day. Well, happy belated 240th, L.A.! Sorry I couldn't be there.

The heat Tuesday means I just made a sandwich for dinner again, though I did risk a little bit of heat and made it a grilled cheese. I'm not sure what kind of sandwich I'll make tonight. It's been a while since I've had peanut butter and marmalade, so maybe that. But I don't have to think about it yet. I still have to sleep a bunch of hours, then get up and eat my breakfast donut, though I might skip lunch. To my surprise, it hasn't gotten smoky again, even though it seems half the state is in flames. I'm sure this good luck will have to be paid for, but how or when I don't know.

I haven't seen my back yard rat for a couple of days, but I have heard it. It's been out there tonight, clambering around on the fence in the darkness. It's probably happy that it's cooled off a bit. So am I. In a few hours it will be ungodly hot again. I hope to sleep through as much of it as possible. It's a good time of year to be nocturnal.

Oh, in case anyone is interested, here is that horrible noise I was listening to. I think I'll listen to it again right now.
