Reset Twenty, Day Five

Near sunset Saturday there was thunder and some sprinkles, and the driveway got wet enough to turn black and shiny before the stormlet passed. I didn't see any lightning. The air had that warm, wet pavement smell. Later, I felt so little like cooking anything that I just microwaved popcorn instead of fixing dinner. Near midnight I kept dozing off as I read poems, looking for one to post. I yawned and got a cramp under my chin. I went outside to clear my head with cool night air. The rain's residue has soaked into the accumulation of dead flowers, and now the air smells slightly moldy. I still don't feel like cooking so I'm eating a couple of slices of bread and butter. It reminds me of being five years old, when that was sometimes my lunch. Infrequently, I'll hear a fresh flurry of raindrops hit the vent pipe above the stove and the rattle startles me. Early Saturday afternoon someone was groaning in my sleep, and it woke me up, and it was me.
