Might As Well Drink

So I didn't make the bus trip today. Time was a bit too tight, it was very hot, and I wasn't feeling very good. Instead I waited for the sun to get mostly behind the trees and went to Grocery Outlet to get donuts and a couple of cans of beans. I also picked up a pound of good butter that's rarely on sale, even though I don't need it yet. I was hoping they would have some good orange juice in, but they didn't. It's unlikely I'll get out tomorrow afternoon, since it will be the peak of the current heat wave, but I hope to get to CVS for beer in the evening.

It's difficult to explain how thick and slow my brain feels these days. Very thick and slow indeed. Impenetrable by metaphors. While reading I have to re-read too many lines, and writing anything takes forever. I keep losing focus, or maybe it just doesn't form to begin with. I don't feel like doing much of anything, except at night when I enjoy sitting in the back yard listening to the crickets. I don't know what I'll do when the cold weather comes and they fall silent. I'll probably fall silent along with them. That's been coming on for a long time.

These two paragraphs took almost two hours. There's no explanation, but that's a demonstration.
