Strawberry Moon

There was rain again this morning, but once again I slept through it. By the time I went shopping this afternoon it was only partly cloudy, and actually a bit too warm when I was walking in the sunlight. It's still partly cloudy tonight, and the moonlight is illuminating them. This, the strawberry moon, is the smallest full moon of the year for those of us in the northern hemisphere, the nocturnal orb being near the southernmost arc of its orbit. I'm looking forward to watching it for a bit later on, though it is rather chilly out for June.

The computer has quit stretching the image on the screen horizontally, and I can now see everything again. I did nothing to fix it. It just went back to normal of its own accord when I booted it up today. While I'm glad to have things back to normal, the experience has left me nervous about it happening again, and still a bit annoyed about the capricious crankiness of these machines. One expects a technology on which so many people are so dependent to function reliably. If cars behaved as badly as computers are wont to do, they would be killing far more people than they do. It's a good thing we don't have to ride around at high speeds in computers.

There are three more shopping days this month, and I have already expended almost all my grocery budget. Once again the nephew has been raiding my pantry recently, and I've had to spend a small fortune replacing the stuff he's taken. He is supposed to pay me back later this month, though I suspect he will only underpay me back. This has happened so much over the last couple of years that I'm almost entirely without emergency money, and way behind where I ought to be in saving for this year's property insurance and taxes. Come November I might have to sell the nephew to recoup my losses. Alas, at his age and weight he is no longer suited for porn or prostitution, so l'll have to sell him for parts only. I doubt he'll bring much even for that. It's too bad I don't know any rich cannibals.

I failed to get sufficient sleep again last night, so I'll probably be passing out in front of the television shortly. There's not much to watch on Friday nights anyway, so no big loss— except that it means I'll probably wake up too soon again tomorrow, and have to go through the whole thing again.

Too bad I didn't have enough money to buy strawberries today, to go with the strawberry moon.
