Brittleness

Now the relentlessly mild days grow stultifying. This warmth should be distributed eastward. We dehydrate, the east freezes. Pine cones are dropping all day, becoming a hazard. The air smells of pine resin. Plants are putting out shoots. The night is full of fluttering moth wings despite the nocturnal cooling. When the weather does this, all you can do is close your eyes and think of all the gas it's saving from the furnace. But I'd gladly spend another twenty bucks if I could have a solid week of rain.

Also, while I'm complaining, why did I never hear about beer brittle before now? I just had some made by our local confectioner. Beer brittle is now one of life's essentials. Keep your crap conventional peanut brittles! Their crackly hardness is put to shame by beer brittle's airy crunch! An essential, I say!
