Today brought loads if tiny, fluffy white clouds. I didn't get as much time to enjoy them as I'd have liked, as the day also brought Adventures in Plumbing. A future day will bring More Adventures in Plumbing. As these are among my least favorite sort of adventures, there will be no details. Must forget, must forget!
A short while ago a creature of some sort (perhaps a cat, perhaps a raccoon) scampered across my roof. The creature may have been experiencing delight or may have been experiencing panic, but my experience was to be startled. This roof is distressingly drum-like, and even a small beast can make a big racket on it. Last night I heard a couple of raccoons on my neighbor's roof, and then scrambling about in his back yard, grunting and snorting. I hope I don't hear anything as disturbing as a raccoon fight, or a raccoon copulation. Hearing such thing from the cats is bad enough.
Also, the back of my chair broke this evening. I'm lucky I didn't flop out of it. Now I must take care not to lean back. I don't think it's fixable, and an early replacement is unlikely. My demise may be imminent.
And now some linkery pokery:The Jalopnik GEM Peapod photoshop contest post
displays some amusing work in comments. My favorite thus far: I have no grill and I must purr
(link to original's Image Shack page as it's hard to find in Jalopnik's permalink-free and ever-expanding comment section. I hope the image stays.)
Real estate prices are not the only thing to have collapsed of late. There's also Brad DeLong's faith in the wisdom of Alan Greenspan
. Probably of interest mainly to econ wonks.
Also from DeLong's journal: Behold the wonder! Mike Oxley, honest Republican!
Probably of interest to those who have not suspended their observation of the not-really-suspended Presidential campaign.
And for those who prefer entertainment to polytics, here's a YouTube revelation: The under-appreciated Slim Gaillard's Sooney Rooney
(Song of Yxabat), this being his tribute to/parody of Yma Sumac.
And with that, I'm off to see if showering provokes further Adventures in Plumbing. Let it not be so!Edit for afterthought: So long, WaMu!
Don't let the door of our collapsing house of cards
hit you in the ass on your way out!
