Hot, Hot, Hot

Yesterday afternoon, the western sky was full of silver linings with hardly any cloud inside them. For sunset, they all turned pink. The heat is slightly less appalling than it was for a while, but still enough to give Sluggo the fits. It's supposed to be back over 100o again to day, though.

I'm also beginning to worry about next winter. As I recall, the worst winter we've had since I came here followed the hottest summer we've had. That was the winter when February brought a three day snowfall of 30 inches, and we lost power for about 60 hours, and the roofs of four stores caved in from the weight of the snow. That summer got as hot as this one has been, but not until August. Uh oh. August is almost here. There's a new moon today, and the next full moon will be on August 11th.

The kitty from across the street just came over to say goodnight to me. Must go out to see her.

MIA

Hmmm. My entire journal appeared to be missing. I got the front page, but it showed 0 entries. The 0 most recent entries, to be exact. I clicked on it again, and it was back, but the style is now changed. No longer Generator, it has reverted to the basic LJ style, but in gray. I remember the good old days when the weirdest thing that happened around here was that Frank the Goat would occasionally turn mauve. These days, there's no telling what's going to happen. Maybe I ought to back up everything on a Deadjournal.

Mystery Explained

It turned out to be this. I used to be on the ever-reliable Santa Cluster, but a few days ago I was moved to the new Ribeye Cluster. (Which LJ cluster am I on?) Apparently, Santa is being made to disgorge, and the Ribeye Cluster has choked. Who could blame it? Anyway, the movement of content from one cluster to another has caused stuff to blink in and out of existence because "Brad" misconfigured something. Oops.

Anyway, my journal is back, and in the proper style once more, but my previous entry, while it shows in the journal, is not appearing on my friends page. (It must be showing on other friends pages, though, because I've gotten a couple of comments on it.) Some entries were misdirected, it seems, and are now bouncing around in the digital ether until they can be captured. I'm picturing them being like pilchard, swimming around in little schools. OK, that's weird, but this geek stuff confuses the hell out of me. I'm lucky to be able to come up with any analogy at all. At any rate, everything is expected to be back to normal (whatever that may be for LJ) soon. All's well as ends well, as my old gaffer used to say. No, wait. That was Sam Gamgee's old gaffer who used to say that. Never mind.
