The chance of rain on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday has been reduced, and only on Monday evening does it go above 50%. I might have to start watering the yard soon after all. It's still supposed to get pretty warm later next week, and the soil dries out pretty fast when that happens. But before then we'll get as few more days with clouds and that nice, filtered light which makes the fresh, green growth of spring look so much deeper, richer, and more intense.

It's mostly overcast tonight, and very quiet. Even the frogs are using their softest croaking voices,a s though reluctant to disturb the serenity. As I go out the back walk to get a good look at the one star that is shining among the clouds, I notice that my soft-soled shoes make hardly a sound. I miss the sound that the leather soled shoes I used to wear made. I always enjoyed listening to the sound of my own footsteps on quiet nights. They always made it so easy to imagine I was actually going somewhere.
