Additional Disruption

The rain has been vigorous for several hours now, having begun in earnest Friday afternoon. For the last hour it has been accompanied by gusty wind, and the water is blowing onto the back porch. If both wind and rain continue the porch will probably be flooded by morning. But the rain is expected to stop for several hours tomorrow and then return Saturday night and continue through Sunday. For that reason my shopping trip has been rescheduled to sometime this afternoon. The latest prediction is that snow is possible at this elevation on Sunday, and I don't want to be out on the roads if they turn icy. It's no fun pushing a shopping cart across a slippery, snowy parking lot, either.

I got wet going out to the mailbox this evening, and there turned out to be no mail, so it was for nothing. I'm not sure I want any mail, anyway, as too much of what I've gotten lately has been things I'd rather not have gotten. One was a notice from the local water company saying that they are restructuring their rates, and it looks like my water bills will be going up fifty percent or more. If they do then more of the thirsty landscape will have to come out. From now on there will only be green lawn when there is rain. The oleanders might have to go, too, as they are water hogs.

My sleep schedule has been odd for the last few days, and I'm hoping that I can wake up in time to get ready to go shopping without any rush. I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to sleep tonight. Yesterday it wasn't until about six o'clock in the morning, and then I woke up after two o'clock in the afternoon. That would never do on a shopping day. I actually don't feel a bit tired right now, which does not bode well. Maybe I can find something boring to do that will put me to sleep.

Hey, who said I could re-read my journal? Why, I oughta....
