Long Storminess Due

Clouds are moving in and obscuring the crescent moon. It was sunny most of the day, but it could be a long time before we see much sunshine again. The rain that wasn't expected until Sunday is now expected on Friday, and then there will be a possibility of rain for eight days straight. It's going to be getting cold enough for snow some of those days, too. Winter hasn't officially started yet, but this is already about the wintriest weather we've had in quite a few years. I'm hoping I'll be able to go shopping on Friday without getting either wet or frozen. If the roads get icy I might not be able to go at all.

I baked a frozen pumpkin pie last night and fell asleep while it was still in the oven. The beep of the oven timer was not loud enough to wake me so the pie ended up being in the oven for about ten minutes too long. The top is a bit tough, but it's edible, and the crust is not burned, though rather too dry. That should teach me not to bake pies in the evening, but it probably won't.

This room is too chilly because I'm trying to save on gas, so I'm going out to the living room now to watch television. I'll try to get Portia to curl up at my feet to keep them warm, but she usually prefers to curl up as near my face as she can get. She's obviously trying to steal my breath. If she ever succeeds I won't be around to feed her and she will starve to death. It will be what she deserves for not keeping my feet warm.
