I had to stop at K-Mart to get cat food, but they were out of the cats' favorite flavors. I bought a compromise flavor, as I am nearly out, and asked for a raincheck for a bag of their favorite flavor. Mistake. K-Mart has gone to a digital raincheck system, and nobody could figure out how to do it. Abandoned at the checkstand with my bill unpaid, I spent about fifteen fruitless minutes before the checker finally came back with the news that somebody was working on it and I was finally able to cancel the request, pay my bill, and get the hell out of there. No more rainchecks from K-Mart, and probably no more sale items, because they are so often out of sale items that I want, so what's the point of even going there?
So I got soaked again going to the final store, and leaving the final store, and though a bright, clear zone at the top of the mountains showed that the sun had not yet set, here it was already wet, windy, thunderous dusk. Everyone had their headlights on, but the road was still hard to see. It was quite splendid to behold, though I'd much rather have seen it from the comfort of my house than to be out in it. Sadly, the storm subsided almost as soon as I got home, and I didn't get to enjoy what little remained of it because I was busy putting away groceries.
Anyway, I'm glad this day is over and I won't have to go through it again. Except it isn't entirely over, and AT&T has been loosing my Internets again. It cuts out every few minutes, and I hope I can get this posted during one of the periods that it's up.
The good news is that Safeway did have some decent bargains today, and the rain brought down several dozen walnuts, so I've got stuff to eat. I'm going to go eat some stuff now.
