The Cool [Sep. 5th, 2015|02:21 pm]
This was supposed to be posted last night, but either LJ belched when I posted it or I just fell asleep before getting around to posting it and didn't discover the fact until today when I opened the update page and it asked me if I wanted to restore from the saved draft. It's a race between LJ's dementia and mine.

The days are supposed to heat up again next week, but at least the nights should remain fairly cool. Tonight it's headed down to 53 degrees here, and I've hauled one of my hoodies out of the drawer in which it slept all summer. It needs a good washing, but it will do for tonight. I've had the windows open for over two days straight, but they'll have to be closed later tonight. Right now the house is still balmy, despite the outdoor temperature already being down to 64.

I'm going to take advantage of the coolth to use the oven again. It's just going to be some sweet potato fries, which won't take too long, but I'm thinking I might bake that frozen pumpkin pie I've had stuck in the freezer for the last few weeks. The evenings are feeling quite autumnal, and there's nothing as autumnal as pumpkin pie.

Wow, I hadn't noticed how late it had gotten. That's what I get for watching movies all afternoon. It's time to go fix dinner.

What movies did you watch? Did you bake the pumpkin pie? Were the sweet potato fries done in the oven crispy and good? You leave us with a lot of questions here. :D

Yesterday's movies are already blending with the previous day's movies, but I recall watching The Night of the Iguana for the first time (don't know how I missed it for almost fifty years.)

As it turns out I didn't bake the pie or even fix the sweet potato fries, though I've made the fries before and they do turn pretty crisp if you follow the instructions— although that takes them right to the edge of being overdone. You have to watch them like a hawk.

I'll probably get around to the fries tonight, unless I fall asleep on the couch again, as I did last night. At least I saved the price of one meal (and staved off the day when I'll have to spend even more on new pants because the old ones have gotten too tight.)

I remember seeing that movie at the theater on Main Street, Podunk IN, when I was a kid. We kids loved to sit in the front row and look waaaaaay up at the enormous faces. I'm sure Ava Gardner and Richard Burton looked great in bloated closeup. :D

Must see that again now that I'm an adult, btw. I was too young to know if the Tennessee Williams was in there or taken out for filming. The song I remember clear as a bell, though.

The fries look wonderful!
