An Elephant In My Pajamas [Aug. 14th, 2015|08:12 pm]
So I fell asleep with the television on again and woke up to Groucho Marx. It turned out they were showing Marx Brothers movies all day on TCM, so I've gotten nothing done. They'll be playing them most of the night, too, so I won't be getting anything done then either. And I'll probably be walking around humming Lydia the Tattooed Lady" for the rest of the week. Well, more likely sitting around, for the first few days at least, as the heat is coming back. It will be over 100 again on Sunday, and the nocturnal low will be 70, and I won't want to be very active when it's that hot. I'm definitely not looking forward to shopping on Sunday.

Tonight I must remember to water the front yard shrubs that I didn't get around to on Wednesday. Yesterday morning I trimmed a few dead branches here and there from various shrubs in both the front and back yards. The dead branches told me that I haven't been giving them enough water, so I'm going to make up for it now. I hope I can keep most of them alive for the rest of the summer. If the powerful El Niño that's forming in the Pacific delivers on schedule we could get rain in early autumn this year, which would be great. It's good thing I've gotten the roof repaired, as there could be goatloads of rain for several months.

Now I'm going to go watch Duck Soup. I probably won't want dinner as I intend to have lots of popcorn.

Hail, Freedonia! I'd love to wake up to Groucho Marx [ETA: on the tv, not haunting me]. What a treat.

By the way, I'm glad to know the roof is fixed and will withstand the rains.
