Today the air has been a bit smoky, and the smoke appears to be coming from the fires across the valley. This is the first time those particular fires have sent their smoke in this direction. That would be the work of the inversion layer which is keeping the overall temperatures down, so I can't be too pissed off about it. If I have to put up with a little bit of smoke to have lower temperatures I can live with it. There's also one more compensation tonight, too: so far I haven't smelled any skunks. Last night the skunk odor lingered in the house for over an hour. Oddly, I couldn't smell it at all in the back yard, but it was pretty strong out front. Weird.
I still haven't figured out what to eat tonight. It seems that I have less attention to pay to food every night anymore. Nothing I have on hand appeals to me, and I don't feel like cooking anyway and end up making a peanut butter sandwich or microwaving a burrito. Meanwhile, visions of dishes from the restaurants of Los Angeles keep popping into my head, but there's no way I can get to Los Angeles, and even if I could, I couldn't afford to go to any of those restaurants. Pointless.
Time for peanut butter, I guess.
