Crowy

After hours of overcast the sun has begun peeking through now and then, and the overcast itself is differentiating into clouds. The gray sky helped to keep the heat down just a little, but it looks like it will break up enough to let the heat out tonight. Last night it stayed hot until dawn and then got hotter. Happily, it didn't get as hot as predicted, and the long range forecast is now predicting days in the low 90s and high 80s rather than the mid-to high 90s that were previously predicted. Even better, it's supposed to get down into the mid-60s tonight, which means I'll finally be able to turn off the noisy air conditioner and open the windows. I'm so delighted that I have nothing more to say except that there were an awful lot of crows hanging around today. I heard cawing every time I went out.

Oh, and the next door neighbor cut down a small (about 35 feet) pine tree that had died. It probably had bark beetles, as its needles had turned entirely brown. I don't know if he cut it down soon enough to prevent the infestation from spreading to other trees, though. Mine is the only house on the block with no pines in the yard (aside from the tiny ones that pop up every year in the wrong places and have to be removed.) Other neighbors might find themselves cutting down sick pines next year, though. Glad I've got oaks.
