RIP, Respite

There was a lot less smoke in the air today than I'd feared there would be. Now and then there was a whiff, but the wind has apparently been rather sluggish, so the smoke is mostly just rising and not spreading out. It made the sky a bit hazy, but that's easy enough to live with— especially for someone who spent more than four decades in Los Angeles. Clear sky? What's that?

The bad news is that it's heating up again, and the heat wave from hell could be on the way. I had to turn the air conditioner on this evening, and still haven't turned it off. The outdoors might get cool enough that I can open the windows by midnight, but this might be the last night that will happen for a week. If I vanish for a few days it will be because I'm cowering in a corner next to an air conditioner vent and can't reach the computer.

Time to roll the wheelie bins out. I wish I could fill them with excess heat.
