Droop

Last night passed with no more rain, and today we returned to the sultriness that prevailed on Tuesday. Morning was not too bad, but by afternoon I had slowed to zombie speed. I have no more appetite for brains than I do for anything else, though, which is how I know I'm not a real zombie but only a heat zombie. Actually I'd probably eat a slice of watermelon if I still had any.

I might be able to get to the store tomorrow, though the thought of going out in that heat appalls me. If I can get a watermelon that might make it worthwhile. But I must go, watermelon or not, as there is a one-day sale on kitty litter and I'm almost out because I missed the last one-day sale on kitty litter. I wish I could arrange my sleep pattern so that I could go to the stores early in the morning, before the day gets too hot, but that probably won't happen in this lifetime.

Right now I'm sitting by the open window but this room is still too hot. It's a perverse peculiarity of this house that the only room in which it's convenient for me to have the computer is also the room that gets the coldest in winter and the hottest in summer. I'm going to leave it now and, after taking a break in the coolish outdoors, I'm going to watch television and let the computer sleep the rest of the night.
