Out to Lunch

We had a power outage here this morning that lasted almost four hours. I probably would have slept through of most of it if Portia hadn't decided to wake me up at seven o'clock in the morning. I guess she got the munchies and didn't want to rip into the fresh bag of cat food with her claws (if it had already been opened she'd have just knocked it over and stuck her head into it to eat.) As it was, I was awake for the outage that began a few minutes after eight.

The outage turned out to be widespread, blacking out the whole town extending even into the valley. A transformer blew up. The power came back on just before noon, so then I was able to open the refrigerator and get stuff for lunch. I'm glad I wasn't at the computer when it happened. It always freaks me out when the screen goes black and the hard drive and fans stop whirring. I always expect the worst when that happens. OMG! The computer died! No more Internets! Not having Internets would be like the end of the world for me. It's really sad how dependent I've become on this stupid machine.
