There's still some pumpkin pie, but no whipped cream to put on top of it. That was one of the things I was going to pick up on my way home from the chiropractor yesterday, but the appointment got canceled due to the wind storm and I wasn't able to get out to buy any today. I could still eat the pie, of course, but it just isn't the same without whipped cream, especially on New Year's Eve, when one is expecting at least a slight nod toward festivity.
If I fall asleep before midnight I'm sure to wake up early enough tomorrow to see the Rose Parade on television. I always like seeing Pasadena on New Year's Day, as it gives me the chance to beat myself up for ever having left it. If I still lived in that neck of the woods I'd have no trouble getting some whipped cream, I'm sure. But then if I still lived there I probably wouldn't need whipped cream, as I wouldn't be home with a pie, I'd probably be out at a party. But yet again if I were out at a party in Southern California and fell asleep I'd probably get tagged and have penises drawn on my face, so maybe it's just as well I'm here instead. (And if You're ever going to tag me and draw penises on my face at a party, wake me up first so I can share the fun.)
Anyway, the handle is about to be pulled and 2014 to be flushed down the toilet of history, so a Happy New Year to one and all. And if you are reading this on New Year's Eve, well, boredom loves company as much as misery does, so an even Happier New Year to you.
