Sitting on the back porch this evening I heard a jackass bray, and the television wasn't even on. Somebody in th more rustic area southeast of my house has a donkey, and every now and then I hear it. It always seems to bray in the evening, but that might just be because I spend more time outdoors that time of day. I enjoy hearing the real jackass. The ones on television I can do without.

A few afternoon clouds made me hope that they would thicken and we would have a nice sunset today, but they dissipated like old hipsters, and evening just faded away into darkness. The clear sky and late-rising moon provide a good opportunity for watching the stars, but I'm not inclined to do so tonight. I did something to my neck while sleeping and it has been sore all day. It's a good thing I've got an appointment with the chiropractor on Tuesday. But I'm anticipating tomorrow's shopping trip even less than usual.

PBS is done with its hiatus, and Masterpiece Mystery returns tomorrow night, but it looks like the show that is scheduled is going to be more medical drama than anything else. I hope there's at least one murder, as it just isn't Sunday night without an English murder victim. Somebody who just dies on the operating table is a poor substitute.
