Sunday Afternoon

Now is the time the mountains enjoy the pleasantly warm days of spring, before the blazing heat of summer It is still possible to go out walking in the afternoon without feeling as though your skin would turn crisp. The air is alive with butterflies this year, and I have seen more than the usual number of bumblebees.Only a few thin clouds are in the sky, and they look as though they were laid on with a brush that had run out of paint. The pines are humming with breeze. As I passed a certain dogwood tree, I was enveloped in a flurry of its falling white blossoms, which settled to the pavement like an unmelting snow. Happy Cinco de Mayo.
