The rain was more substantial than I'd expected, and with the rain from last week the season is off to a good start. The ground is well soaked, and there are even some spots of fresh green in the lawns. If it doesn't get too cold, and we continue to get rain now and then, I might see the sourgrass come back soon. It usually doesn't come back until spring. That will be a nice change.
But the early end of summer has left me with too much ice cream in my freezer. I'm thinking about warmer snacks now, like cinnamon rolls and brownies, but I've got at least a months worth of ice cream to get through. If I leave it too long, the automatic defrost feature will cause it to change textures from repeated warming and refreezing. I don't like grainy ice cream. Well, maybe I can put some of it on top of brownies, or get an apple pie to go with it. But I hope there are at least a few warm days so I can use up all those frozen fruit bars.
Totally dark at eight o'clock. That's what I like to see.
