As Fate Would Have It

Today's rain came last night, and it was sunny all afternoon, so maybe tomorrow's rain will come tonight and I won't have to get wet when I go shopping. The less wet I get, the easier November is to get through. There's a disadvantage to the sunny afternoons, though. The angle of the light is very good at revealing how dirty the windows have gotten. I was going to wash them in October, but never got around to it. Now I'm seeing autumn through a smudgy haze, and lots of kitty nose prints. Today, there was also a little clump of feathers in one of the living room windows. A bird must have smacked into it while I was sleeping.

When I woke up today, I had a fight with my blankets. They wanted to keep one of my feet, and it was a struggle to get them to release it. The blankets ended up in a heap on the floor, and I walked away triumphant. Blankets should know better than to try to get the best of me. They've been trying this trick for years, and have yet to win. Eventually there will come a day that they will have some chance of winning, but only because my joints grow a bit stiffer each year. I hope that the time when I'll be at risk of being trapped by a heap of blankets is far off. In fact I hope to be eaten by a mountain lion before that day arrives. If I don't get eaten by a lion, and the blankets do trap me someday, then I'll probably end up being eaten by an unfed house cat. Either way, I expect to end up as food for one feline or another.
