Boom!

Thunder! I haven't seen any lightning, though, despite the thunder sounding nearby. There's been a little bit of rain— just enough to dampen everything and fill the night with the scent of wet asphalt. There was even a bit of wind. Well, more of a stiff breeze, but I'll take what I can get. At least it's a change from the summer monotony. As long as no fires get started, and the power doesn't go off, I'm happy, even if the light sprinkles will do nothing to cut down on my water bill.

Oh, and I've discovered that you can get carpenter ants off of your house by spraying them with air freshener. I used Air Wick rain garden scent. Some of them died, but mostly I think it just messed up their scent trail so they didn't know where they're going. I'm thinking of buying some Old Spice or some Axe body spray and trying that on them if they come back, although blasting bugs with something that smells like that might anger PETA.
