Going out this afternoon brought a bonus, in that I passed through less tree-ridden parts of town, which provided me with views of the sky more expansive than those available nearby. The approaching storm, which will in all likelihood drench us before long, brought a slew of remarkable clouds, and the rumpling sea of silver, white, gray, and blue which flowed overhead was a splendid sight, burnished as it was by the declining sun. It's a good thing I wasn't driving, as the irresistible attraction of that sky would probably have led me to drift into the wrong lane, there to be crushed by an oncoming SUV.
But I made it safely home, where I now await the sound of the first raindrops. I intend to have cookies with them. Pecan shortbread. It's probably too late at night for tea. A bit of hot cocoa would be nice, though.
