She is now buried behind the azalea bushes under which she died. I'm not sure what happened to her. There were no noticeable marks of trauma on her body. I'm hoping she didn't die of a contagious disease the other cats might catch. She might have been hit by a car and received only internal injuries, though. But the fact that she came here to die indicates that she probably thought of this place as her home, despite the fact that I haven't seen her very often for the last several months. She was a very shy kitty, and I don't think she liked the crowd of cats who hang around here now, even though Alger and Farah remembered her and never gave her a bad time.
Still, I'll miss her occasional visits, and I'm glad she brought the litter that included Alger and Farah to grow up in my back yard. They had some very good times together there, and I always enjoyed watching them at play. Alger has markings similar to hers, though they are paler, and he lacks the shades of brown that made her so difficult to see among the fallen leaves. I think she must have been about four or five years old, but I never got around to giving her a name. Now I guess she'll always be just Alger and Farah's Mom.
Rest in Peace, Alger and Farah's Mom.
