Beastly

Alger the feral cat has managed to injure one of his hind legs. He's probably been getting in fights with the bigger cats who hang around the neighborhood. The injury is probably why he's spent most of the last couple of days and nights hanging out on the back porch, even during breaks in the rain. When he moves he keeps the injured leg entirely off the ground, so it might be pretty serious. He still manages to hiss and yowl at me every time I go out to put food in the bowls, though. I don't think there's anything I can do for him, given his wildness, so I hope the leg heals on its own.

I scared on of the other two cats the other night when I closed the automatic garage door. It leaped from a box and scooted out the door before it had moved ten inches. I had been standing in the garage watching the rain for several minutes and hadn't even noticed the cat. Kitties are good at making themselves invisible. But the poor kitty had found a spot out of the wind and rain and probably would have stayed there for along time had I not closed the door. I felt bad about scaring it off, but I can't be leaving the door open all night.

Tomorrow's rain will be a bit warmer than today's rain was. I'm finally getting used to the cold, though, so I don't care.

Vegetable lasagna for dinner. It was a bit like a ratatouille with cheese and pasta instead of rice. Odd but tasty. I'll probably have it again.
