Lateness

Yesterday afternoon there was single golden poppy blooming in the back yard, feeding on water from the bed where the cultivated flowers live. It was a runty little thing, and terribly late to the party, the other poppies having long since vanished. Today it was gone. Sad little poppy.

Portia decided to show up early today and had been let into the house as I slept. I woke to find her waiting for me on an end table in the living room. She was pleased to see me, and I gave her a bowl of food, but she wasn't hungry. She probably ate at her other house before she came back here. She then spent most of the afternoon and evening following me around, hopping onto my lap each time I sat down. She's the lappiest cat I've ever known.

Lots of interruptions today, still going on.
