Change

The recent rains have coaxed half a dozen new poppies from the soil. I think the single poppy which bloomed some days ago is gone though, beaten down by that very same rain. That's the way it is with flowers. But there will be more of them blooming soon. It now looks like a good crop is coming.

Even though we got no more rain today, it remained cool and mostly cloudy. It will heat up again over the next few days. I'm not looking forward to that, or to the dryness that will now most likely prevail for the remainder of the spring— especially not when Santa Barbara is burning. There's as much fuel here as there is there, even after so much was consumed by last year's conflagrations.

Oh, head yanking tomorrow.
