Nice

There are more butterflies here this year than I've seen in quite a while. Populations of lepidoptera do tend to fluctuate a great deal, and in recent years it was often the case that I'd spend an hour or so outside on a pleasant spring day and encounter none at all. About a dozen flitted by while I sat on the back porch for a quarter hour or so this afternoon. It's nice to see them in such relative abundance again. They are probably enjoying the balminess as much as I am. Even the pollen seemed a bit less intense today. Tomorrow could be even better.

You know you want it! A YouTube discovery: Ruth Etting singing Irving Berlin's "The Song is Ended" on a 1927 electric recording by Columbia. Remarkable sound for the time.
