Still This

Sluggishness of air has greatly reduced the density of smoke here. Now it fills the higher atmosphere as a haze that lingers all day and night. The scent of it remains, though that too is less intense than it was. Nevertheless I find myself choking up and, on waking, my nasal passages feel as though they'd been sanded. The foul air may also be one reason why I feel about as energetic as a garden slug. Another reason is the ongoing disruption of my sleep schedule and thus every other aspect of my schedule. Then there's the diminished but still oppressive heat. Not to mention the nearly comatose cat. It all adds up to me not wanting to do much of anything. September. What a crock.
